After arriving in Picton, we hopped on the scenic train to bring us to Christchurch.
This train runs along the east coast of the south island, bringing us through some fantastic scenery and ocean views. I traveled everywhere with my backpack and enormous purse, so it ended up for some uncomfortable seating for Jim and I as our feet were a little squished.

Jenn and Jim before getting onto our 5 hour train ride.

Some of New Zealand's most famous wine is brewed here, and so wineries are everywhere.

Lots of amazing sights

And many views of the typical New Zealand roads, which include hairpin turns and steep hills/cliffs on either side.

Also, they farm sea salt from the ocean near the train. They take ocean water, and place it in these pond type things, where the water evaporates and the salt is harvested from the sides of the pools. The red results from the natural algae which indicates it is time to harvest.

Some of the sights were just fantastic.

And there were seals next to the road...they are in the middle of the picture (the big brown blobs) There were apparently tons a bit further down the road.

Arrived in Christchurch, and relaxed a bit.
