Interislander Ferry

The next morning (the 17th at this point) we headed out nice and early to catch the Interislander Ferry from the bottom of the south island in Wellington to the top of the north island, Picton.
It was a huge boat. I think the guy said there were 700 of us, although he mumbled and spoke with New Zealand slang, so he could have said anything.

This was our trip for the day. It took 3 hours, and was absolutely beautiful.

Beautiful sunny day...perfect for a cruse between the islands of New Zealand.

Scenery was great...looked a lot like Newfoundland at parts.

And there were some great wildlife too! I swear this is a blue penguin....hes just a little hard to see.
A big bird flew by

and there were two dolphins playing a bit out in the water. (they are the tiny specks haha)

and then a big ganet floated by.

and then we were off to catch the Trans-coastal train!
